APC Young Generation Leader Jumps Police Bail

Idrissa Lamin Kamara, who failed to report to the police after he was granted bail, has been declared wanted by the police.
Kamara, a prominent member of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party and District Chairman of the APC Young Generation in Tonkolili District, was arrested and detained by the police for alleged political activities threatening the peace. Recently, Kamara has had frequent confrontations with the police due to his anti-government political activities.
It could be recalled that Kamara was very active in opposing the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government after the outcome of the June 24, 2023 general elections, which were widely condemned by many people and relevant institutions, perceiving the elections rigged in favour of the SLPP.
Kamara, a businessman operating a foreign exchange bureau in his community, is known in his district for mobilizing and organizing young people for APC political activities and agenda. He has been frequently arrested by the police because of his political activities and campaigns.
According to reports, Kamara became a target of this SLPP regime, especially after the outcome of the controversial June 24, 2023 general elections, his home and business attacked several times, a reason for his recent arrest on June 15, 2025, shortly after returning from the U.S.
As at press time, the whereabouts of Kamara is not known; and the police are still looking for him.
