By Musa Kamara
The week-long 72nd Anniversary Celebration of Christ the King College (CKC), Bo came to a memorable close on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, after a colorful and exhilarating match pass marking the conclusion of a series of inspiring and energetic activities that drew hundreds of proud COBIANS back to their cherished school grounds.
While the celebrations featured numerous milestones and renewed pledges of commitment to the school’s advancement, one announcement stood above the rest, the groundbreaking for a 120kW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system and the installation of a 100kVA generator for CKC.
This flagship energy project, facilitated by Hon. Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, was unveiled during the celebration week as his profound gesture of giving back to the institution that helped shape his journey.
Throughout the celebration week, alumni, students, staff, and residents of Bo City expressed heartfelt admiration and gratitude for Dr. Yumkella’s visionary investment. Many hailed the initiative as a transformative step toward a brighter, more efficient, and future-ready CKC.
Dr. Yumkella’s contribution not only reinforces his commitment to the growth of his alma mater but also reflects his lifelong mission of championing energy as a catalyst for national development. His dedication continues to inspire, reminding all that progress begins with bold action.
The celebrations may have ended, but the impact remains. As the CKC community looks ahead with excitement, one fact stands clear: within the next three months, CKC will shine, literally and symbolically, as Dr. Yumkella’s 120kW Solar PV system and 100kVA generator light up the school and its surroundings.
A new chapter begins for CKC, one powered by vision, gratitude, and renewable energy.
