Driver Committed to High Court for Possession of Kush

Thirty-eight-year-old Abass Kamara, a driver, has been committed to the High Court of Sierra Leone by Magistrate Mustapha Brima-Jah of Court No. 1, Pademba Road, Freetown. He is standing trial for possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority, contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drug Control Act, 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008).
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Tuesday, 7th May 2024, at Allen Town Furniture Junction, Freetown, was allegedly found in possession of sixty-seven (67) wraps of Kush, a prohibited substance, without lawful authority.
The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
After hearing the evidence presented, Magistrate Brima-Jah committed the matter to the High Court for further trial.
