Six Remanded For Murder

Martin Sellu, Gbassay Swarray, Foday Sallu, John Bangalie alias Boika, Joseph Gilamaja Kamara alias Shine, and Foday Alhassan Sesay have made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on five count charges to wit conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation, conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravation, murder and receiving stolen goods contrary to Section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on a date between 1st August to 29th August 2025 in Bo City the Southern Province of Sierra Leone, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th defendants conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit robbery with aggravation.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place they conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit murder.
Count three also stated that on the 30th August 2025 at Buma 111 Section Kenema at the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th defendants armed with a locally made single barrel gun robbed reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu of a grey Lenovo Computer laptop computer property valued three hundred and fifty united States dollars and the physical cash of five thousand Leones (NLe5,000) and at the time or immediately before or immediately after such robbery and use Personal Violence on the said Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu.
Count four stated that on 30th August 2025 at Buma 111 Section Kenema at the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th defendants murdered Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu.
Count five stated that on the 29th August 2025 at Waterloo at the Western Rural Area of Freetown the 6th defendant did receive a grey Lenovo Computer laptop valued three hundred and fifty United States Dollars property of Paul Allan Mose Jones knowing same to have been stolen.
After the charges were read and explained to the defendants no plea was taken and the 6th defendant pleaded not guilty.
Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer Esq led in prosecution witness number one Inspector B. Foday attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters testified that on the above date Rev. Father Michael Thomas Lamboi made a report of robbery and murder at the church house in Kenema.
He furthered that receiving the report, himself, Detective Sergeant 922 Lamina headed by the Regional Head visited the scene of crime and that at the scene one Michael Musa Foday identified the deceased Reverend Father Augustine Dauda who was lying in his bathroom motion less.
Detective Sergeant 9667 Bangura S.S, Crime Officer examined the body and took snap shots.
These photos were developed into pictures and were tendered to form part of the records.
That they then conveyed the body to the Kenama Government Hospital and later obtained statements from the complainant and witnesses.
That while they were taking their statements, the Operations Officer brought in the 1st defendant. That on the 1st September 2025, he interviewed the 1st defendant in Krio and that his statements were obtained in English which he admitted to be true and correct by afflicting his righthand thumbprint.
Meanwhile Magistrate Jah remanded the defendants to the Male Correctional facility in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 29th September 2025.
