In a video put out by the First Lady Fatima Maada Bio on social media, she expresses disappointment and displeasure on the way and manner she was treated during the recent State Opening of Parliament.
She maintains that her decision to put out the video is to clear the misconception that people hold especially being aware of the fact that no one else will come out to defend her or say the right thing.
She explains that on her way to Parliament on Thursday together with her husband, she left her home very happy to support the President in one of his very important functions adding that she went there wholeheartedly.
“There is no one in this country who has served as the cheerleader of President Maada Bio compared to me and there is no person who has worked for him compared to me especially to make sure that his legacy continues and his presidency is not mixed up with unnecessary dramas,” she states.
She reveals that after they left the Speaker’s office, she was urged to go into the Well of Parliament and that she thought they were urging her due to time for which she accepted as it was normal.
She says when she approached the door and her presence was announced, the former National Chairman of the SLPP and some SLPP MPs started singing on her “U Coco Ros Oooo…” followed by APC MPs.
“As I was walking in the Well of Parliament, the whole Well on both sides of the MPs started singing on me as if am a street woman walking into the Well of Parliament,” she expresses.
She states that it is place where everyone should be respected, especially being the Legislative Arm noting that the world was watching as it was happening.
She adds that they chose to target, humiliate and molest her on the day her husband, President Bio is to tell the people what he has done and what he plans to do.
She reveals that a former MP Alusine Kanneh stood up to cheer her up but he was told to sit down by the former Chairman of the SLPP who she accused said that they want to deal with her today.
