Health Minister Updates Parliament Today On MPox Preparedness

The Parliament of Sierra Leone has summoned the Minister of Health to address Members of Parliament on the country’s level of preparedness to manage and contain the outbreak of Monkeypox (Mpox).
The briefing is scheduled for today 13th May 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Chambers of Parliament as there are serious concerns about the outbreak across the country.
This special parliamentary session, aims to provide MPs with critical insights into current surveillance measures, available resources, response protocols, and public awareness strategies. The session will also offer an opportunity for MPs to pose questions and make recommendations to strengthen the national health system’s readiness.
The public, including interested individuals and institutions, is encouraged to attend the proceedings to stay informed about the government’s response plans. Public health experts, civil society actors, and relevant stakeholders are expected to be present to contribute, and build a way forward.
Media houses, like SLBC, AYV, News Papers and radio stations, are requested to be in attendance to ensure transparency and public engagement.
