By Desmond Isaac Macauley
Deputy Speaker of Parliament who is also the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Honorable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh has summoned Mobile Network Operators and Internet Service Providers to appear before the Committee after hearing form officials of the Universal Access Development Fund (UADF).
That Orange, Africell, Qcell, Zoodlabs, Metro Cable, and K3 should submit their audited financial statements to the Public Accounts Committee.
Emphasizing that, it’s required by law to submit documents to the Public Accounts Committee during the course of executing it constitutional mandates, failing to do so will be deemed Contempt of Parliament, Hon. Tawa stated.
He said that upon submitting their audited financial statements, the actual calculations will be done for purposes of deducting the actual amounts that are payable to the government as required by law.
“However, the aforementioned MNOs and ISPs, therefore, stand summoned and required to appear before the Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday 23/04/2025 at 10:00, in Parliament with their audited financial statements for consideration by the said Committee,” the Chairman stated.
