Kono District Football Chairman Praises Babadi Kamara For Supporting Grassroots Football

In a bid to promote football development in Sierra Leone, SLFA presidential aspirant Babadi Kamara successfully hosted the Inter-Chiefdom Grassroots Gala in Kono, which concluded in grand style.
The tournament, which began on December 7, 2024, saw Nimiyama Chiefdom emerge as champions after defeating defending champions Nimikoro Chiefdom with a narrow 1-0 victory in the final.
Babadi Kamara demonstrated his dedication to grassroots football by sponsoring the event with 150,000 new Leones. His contributions included providing all participating chiefdoms with:
A set of jerseys, including a captain’s armband. Three footballs each.
The winning chiefdom was awarded 20 million old Leones, 30 gold medals, and a trophy, while the runners-up received 10 million old Leones, 30 silver medals, and certificates for their participation.
Speaking at the event, Abu Bakar Mansaray, popularly known as Legendary Abu Mans, the Kono District Football Chairman, commended Babadi Kamara for his unwavering support for grassroots football. Mansaray emphasized the importance of such initiatives in uniting communities and fostering football development at the local level.
“This is a remarkable gesture from Babadi Kamara, and it is exactly what grassroots football in Sierra Leone needs,” said Mansaray.
The gala has been lauded as a significant step in enhancing the growth of football across the country.
