As Agric Ministry Faces PAC Today… Top Officials In Trouble

By Desmond Isaac Macauley
The Parliamentary Public Account Committee (PAC) headed by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh has summoned Ministry of Agriculture to make clarifications based on the recently published Audit Report.
The summon of the Ministry is based on anomalies as captured by the report for which the Ministry is required to make clarifications on the same.
Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh maintained that the Committee will make a recommendation to State House to sack top management staff of the Ministry for complacency and lack of accountability.
“It is an opportunity for the minister, ” he said.
The Public account Committee grilled officials and expressed their dissatisfaction over its poor handling of stores at Kissy and the distribution of machines and tools to support the government flagship programme “Feed Salone”.
Pictures of machines were displayed including harrowing, power tillers and combined harvesters, bought by the government but were never utilised or distributed for it intended purposes, including list of machines and equipment unaccounted for, which indicates huge waste of government resources.
The Public account Committee has also ordered the Ministry of Agriculture to present three vehicles in question to parliament on Wednesday 22/1/2025 for audit inspection and verification.
