Teenager Remanded For Laptop Theft

Nineteen years old Edward Mansaray has appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on a count charge of Larceny Contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on the 8th July 2024 at Rawdon Street in the Western Area of Freetown stole one Dell Laptop Computer valued at Seven Thousand Five Hundred Leones (SLe7,500) property of Umu Kallay.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, no plea was taken.
Inspector Sellu Tap led prosecution witness number one Umu Kallay who is a graphic designer.
The witness said she knows the accused as a cleaner, and recalled on Monday 8th July 2024, she left the accused cleaning her office after she finished working, and that she left her laptop in the office and went out when she returned the laptop was gone and the accused had left.
She said on July 9th 2024, she called the accused to ask him if he took her laptop he said no, so she took him at New England Ville, Police Station where statement was obtained from them.
She said on that same day she received a call from the police station, when she got there the accused admitted that he took the laptop and sole it at PZ but the accused refused to tell her to whom he sold it.
The accused was not legally represented. Magistrate Sahr Kekura refused bail and sent the accused person to the Male Facility and adjourned the matter to the 15th August 2024.
