Teacher Granted NLe 100,000 Bail In Fraud Matter

Lansana Tomboyekeh a 34-year-old teacher made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
Tomboyekeh is facing charges for obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge, in June 2024, at Crab Town Aberdeen in Freetown, Tomboyekeh defrauded Alieu Saraye the sum of Eight Thousand Leones (Nle 8,000) by falsely claiming he had a plot of land for sale.
When the charge was read to him, Tomboyekeh pleaded not guilty. He was not represented by a lawyer.
Magistrate Kekura granted Tomboyekeh bail in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Leones (NLe 100,000) with the condition that the surety must reside in Freetown and provide a valid identity card showing their address.
That the bail must be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The matter was adjourned to August 17th 2024for further hearing.
