Alhaji Musa Tarawally Is A National Figure- Says Sec. Gen Of United Council Of Imams

The National Secretary General of the United Council of Imams, Alhaji Ibrahim Mans Kanu has described Alhaji Musa Tarawally as a national figure.

He made this statement during a tour embarked on by Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally with his entourage to break fast with imams right across the four regions of the country.

“I know that you have made preparations here, but what you will see in Makeni will tell you that this man (Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally) is a national figure,” he pointed out.

Alhaji Mans Kanu disclosed that Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally has been very helpful to many imams right across the country and to Islam in general. He said that because of Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, today 15,000 imams are receiving cheques, 10,000 Islamic scholars now have a paid job and over 60,000 children learning Islamic Studies and the normal school curriculum.

“Alhaji Musa Tarawally is the only Sierra Leonean who singlehandedly brought the Ummah Welfare Trust in Sierra Leone which has been supporting Imams and by extension Islam, and this has helped to restore the dignity of Imams in the country,” he said.

He recognized the lead role that has been played by Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally in the promotion of Islam right across the country, adding that it has not been done anyone else in the country.

“What is happening today is something that I have never seen before in the history of this country, to bring together people from different parts of the country to break fast this a record,” he said.

Emphasizing that there are rich people in the country, he said that many of them do not have the spirit to do such goodwill and urged his colleagues to pray for Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally to be protected, blessed and directed by the Almighty Allah.

Giving the keynote address, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally acknowledged that Imamship is a special gift which imams carry and that they always make sacrifices for the work of God and for the benefit of the people and the society as a whole.

Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally urged them not to give up but to rather remain steadfast in their service as they will be rewarded by Allah no matter what. He said that, that blessing could fall on anyone, be it their children, grandchildren or great grandchildren as the case maybe.

He referenced himself as an example of the product that imams made in sacrificing to do the work of Allah. That it is those blessings that are following him today based on all what he has and who he is today.

He disclosed that his visit is not only to break fast with the imams, but to also ask them to pray against the current pandemic, which is the Kush outbreak and to ask for their prayer and advice on something very important which many people have been asking him to carry a leadership mantle on.

He said that he has been listening to the voices of thousands of supporters across the country and various social media groups on the subject matter but has refrained from commenting. “I choose to continue engaging my people on the way forward because there is a time for every purpose,” he said.

He said that Kush is ravaging the youths of Sierra Leone for which the future of our beloved country is at stake.
He urged the Chief Imams to take the center stage in the fight noting that they are the moral guarantors, and that they have large audience in society.

“The fight against Kush is crucial and requires a collaborative approach from all sides because Kush is now a Public Health Emergency in the country,” he said.
