Following all parliamentary procedures and upon approval, the new NCP Chairman on the 14th May 2020 assumed office at the Commission.
Addressing staff of the Commission, the Chairman expressed his appreciation to staff of the Commission for holding the forth and encouraged all to continue to work effectively in the interest of the Government, the Commission and the people of Sierra Leone.
He assured staff of his readiness to work with all to ensure that the Commission achieves its mandate.
He informed members of staff that he has come with an open mind and expects everyone to give up their very best.
“We will all work together and give the Commission a new face and make Public Enterprises (PE’s) profitable, attractive and transparent and this must be done within the tenets of the New Direction Government,” he noted.
In 2018, Dr. Prince Alex Harding was appointed as Chairman of the National Telecommunication Commission (NATCOM). He served as Minister of Mines, Minister of Transport and Communications and later as Minister of Internal Affairs in the late Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah’s led administration. He also served as Chairman of the defunct NPA (National Power Authority) Board.
Between 1995 and 2005, Dr. Harding served as National Secretary General of the SLPP and also served as Deputy National Chairman/Leader of the SLPP, before he was elected as National Chairman.
Considering his wealth of administrative knowledge and political leadership, the Chairman encouraged all staff to be vigilante in their supervisory role to ensure that all Public Enterprises slated on the first schedule of the NCP Act are efficient and effective.
