Sierra Leone Music Industry has been in comatose for a very long time since after the Paradise Records revolution after the war around 2002 by Jimmy B.
It is believed that the ECOFEST music festival that will be organized in Sierra Leone on November 16 at the National Stadium will rejuvenate and reenergize the music industry in Sierra Leone.
The much talked about Festival which will see competition between seven West African nations was unveiled last Friday 5 October by the Sierra Leone entertainment and music Godfather Jimmy B at Hotel 5/10 saw a galaxy of musical stars and other celebrities.
The event launching was witnessed by music stars, radio and TV personalities in the country.
The Chairman of the program, philanthropist, musician and promoter, Nasser Ayoub, thanked Kabaka Multimedia Entertainment (KME) and it’s partners, Empire Entertainment from Ghana for such a laudable initiative.
CEO of Kabaka Multimedia and Entertainment (KME), Abu Bakarr Turay Esq who is popularly known as The Kabaka in a short address talked about how ECOFEST as an idea was conceived by him and how he eventually brokered a deal with Empire Entertainment in Ghana for partnership to host the biggest musical event ever.
He intimated that ECOFEST will be a platform to showcase to the world what local artists can do and also to create bridge that would be useful in unifying African music and the entertainment industry in Africa.
He thanked sponsors and others and called on all to support the ECOFEST that will be held at the national stadium on November 16 this year.
In his keynote address, Chief Unveiler, Jimmy B, thanked Kabaka and encouraged him not to be distracted.
He said that he sees himself a lot in Kabaka and agrees that a lot of what the young KME CEO is doing now are some of the things he dreamt about.
He considered KME as progressive and pledged all his support to ECOFEST.
Statements from various stakeholders and sponsors such as Africell and the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank were also made.
The musicians unveiled were Patoranking and Mayorkun from Nigeria, Kuami Eugene and Patapaa from Ghana, CIC and Stunna from Liberia, Takana Zion from Guinea, Fafadi from Senegal, J. Kelly and Double T from The Gambia.
From Sierra Leone are: LXG, Arkman, Kao Denero, Empress P, Drizilik, Yung Sal, Innocent, Dallas B, Nasser Ayoub and LAJ.
Hosts KME will have Rozzy, Markmuday, Blesz, Future K, Samza and Krack Twist, I-Tribe, MIC and Ragga Spice.
It is believed that this is going to be the biggest ever music show in Sierra Leone. Whether Sierra Leone supports such a venture by the young and illustrious barrister and his partners is a wait and see affair as all roads lead to ECOFEST on November 16 at the National Stadium.
